The Faculty Council brings together the decanate and all the professors of a faculty. The mid-level academic staff and students each have up to two representatives in it respectively. The Faculty Council is led by the dean, assisted by a maximum of two vice-deans. The languages of study, levels of study and diversity must be taken into account appropriately. Its competences and composition are governed by the General faculty regulations (In French and German only), Articles 5 and 6.

The faculty council is responsible for:

  • the offer of university degrees and continuing education
  • the adoption of study programmes
  • the supervision of doctoral students and the management of habilitations
  • ensuring and promoting the quality of research, teaching, continuing education and services
  • electing the dean and up to two vice-deans
  • planning the faculty's development
  • appointing the winners of any prizes awarded by the faculty
  • the creation of commissions and committees, which may be permanent or temporary. In addition, the faculty council decides on their composition, tasks, reports, duration and dissolution.

It meets at least twice per semester.
