The Geometry Group in the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science invites applications for a: 

 PhD Position in Differential Geometry (100%)

Place of work: Brig, Switzerland
Start of work: Flexible, at the latest by September 1, 2025

Your tasks

  • Conduct research and write a PhD thesis in the field of differential geometry under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Thomas Mettler
  • Support undergraduate mathematics teaching through tutorial sessions, exercise groups and grading of student exercise sheets
  • Present research at national and international conferences and participate in academic workshops

 

Your profile

  • MSc in Mathematics
  • Strong background in differential geometry and/or analysis
  • Familiarity with one of the following research areas is an advantage: projective differential geometry, Riemann surfaces/complex geometry, calculus of variations, Cartan geometries
  • Fluent English required (teaching language)
