UniDistance Suisse is further expanding its long-standing commitment to promoting transparent and reproducible research. Since May 2026, Michael Kurschilgen, Professor of Behavioural Economics and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, has been serving on the Steering Committee of the Swiss Reproducibility Network (SwissRN), marking the first time that UniDistance Suisse has been represented on the network’s strategic governing body.

The Swiss Reproducibility Network is a nationwide network of researchers and institutions dedicated to promoting good research practice, transparency and the reproducibility of scientific results. Its aim is to strengthen the quality and reliability of research over the long term while fostering exchange across disciplines.

The appointment of Prof. Dr Michael Kurschilgen highlights UniDistance Suisse’s commitment to open and transparent research processes. In recent years, UniDistance Suisse has participated in a range of initiatives related to Open Science and Good Research Practice. One notable example is the project « Open Online Course in Good Research Practices », led by Prof. Dr Matthias Voigt and carried out in collaboration with the Centre for Reproducible Science at the University of ZurichHES-SO Valais-Wallis and HEG Fribourg. The project aims to promote good research practice among early-career researchers and raise awareness of key topics such as reproducibility, Open Science and transparent research processes.

SwissRN Annual Meeting to be held in Brig for the first time

Another important milestone will follow next year when the Swiss Reproducibility Network’s Annual Meeting takes place on the UniDistance Suisse campus in Brig for the first time. The event will bring together researchers, representatives of higher education institutions and specialists from across Switzerland to discuss current developments, challenges and best practices in reproducible research.

The campus previously hosted a SwissRN hackathon on computational reproducibility in June 2025, bringing together researchers from a variety of disciplines. Through its representation on the Steering Committee and its role as host of the Annual Meeting, UniDistance Suisse is further strengthening its commitment to transparent, reproducible and high-quality research.
