UniDistance Suisse has once again been awarded the E-xcellence Quality Label by the European Association of Distance Teaching Universities (EADTU). This internationally recognized quality seal is valid for the period 2026 to 2029 and acknowledges the high quality of online and distance learning as well as the institution’s continuous development.

The award is based on a comprehensive external evaluation conducted by an expert team from the UK Open University. As part of the multi-stage evaluation process, several aspects were assessed, including strategic direction, programme design, teaching quality, technical infrastructure, and support for students and staff. The European Association of Distance Teaching Universities Board followed the positive recommendation of the expert panel and granted UniDistance Suisse the quality label for a further three years.

Recognition of quality and innovation

The expert team particularly highlighted the careful preparation of the evaluation process, the strong commitment of all stakeholders, and the high quality of the study programmes in the field of online and distance education. Also positively assessed were the high-performance IT infrastructure, the professional student support, the work of the “Educational Development Unit in Distance Learning” (EDUDL+), as well as the learning platform “Kaïros” with its open and modular learning offerings.

The expert panel also commended UniDistance Suisse’s clear quality strategy and confirmed the institution’s positive self-assessment. The jointly developed roadmap for the further development of digital teaching was regarded as a realistic and forward-looking foundation for the coming years.

Confirmation of quality standards

With the renewed awarding of the E-xcellence Quality Label, UniDistance Suisse receives important international confirmation of its commitment to quality in digital higher education. At the same time, the evaluation provides valuable input for the institution’s future development – particularly regarding the expansion of study programmes, the promotion of innovative teaching and learning methods, and the strengthening of international cooperation.
