Doctoral Thesis: Under the guidance of Prof. Bertrand Perrin at the University of Fribourg, Nicolas is delving into the foundational elements of negligence within Swiss criminal law. His research particularly focuses on the concept of culpable lack of effort ("manque d’effort blâmable") and examines the contrasting approaches in the jurisprudence of German-speaking and French-speaking courts.
Simultaneously, Nicolas is collaborating with Prof. Thierry Godel on the project titled "Rethinking Penal Dogmatics in Addressing Violent Extremism". This project aims to scrutinize the role of negligence in the context of counter-terrorism and the fight against violent extremism, especially considering that the current repressive system predominantly relies on the notion of intent to preemptively curb a wide range of behaviours.
