Charlotte Vössing is a research assistant at the Educational Psychology Lab at UniDistance Suisse. After completing her Master's degree in Psychology at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau, she is now pursuing her doctorate on the design of complex learning materials. Her research focuses on how learning materials can be structured to foster learners' interest development and thereby improve learning outcomes.
In the KeBNE project, she applies this perspective to the communication of findings in the field of Education for Sustainable Development.
In my doctoral research, I investigates the design of complex learning materials. I focus on the interplay between cognitive and motivational processes that occur when learners engage with such materials. Specifically, I examine how learning materials can be designed to support learners' interest development, for example through emotional design or narrative framing. When learners develop an interest in the learning content, they are better able to deploy their cognitive resources effectively, which in turn can improve learning outcomes.
The KeBNE project focuses on how research findings on Education for Sustainable Development can be presented in a way that sparks teachers' interest. Since teachers bring very different attitudes to this topic, the project emphasizes the adaptive design of learning materials: materials that are tailored to each teacher's individual beliefs as starting point.
