This is a two day course : 3rd of August and 13th of August.
Course offered at UniDistance by the Educational Psychology Lab at UniDistance Suisse.
This PhD course is closely connected to the research retreat "Educational Psychology at UniDistance: Future Directions and Projects" and focuses on current scientific debates in teaching, learning, and assessment in higher education.
Participants engage with recent research on self-regulated learning, the consolidation of complex learning, and worked examples. They relate these debates to their own teaching practice and use them to develop or revise teaching materials and assessment formats.
The course combines an online preparatory module, expert input and discussion during the research retreat, an extended independent working phase, presentations of participants own teaching concepts, and a written scientific paper submitted three weeks later. The course is assessed on a pass/fail basis.
The course is primarily aimed at PhD students who teach, plan to teach, or support learning in higher education. It is also open to postdoctoral researchers and other early-career researchers with an interest in evidence-based teaching and learning design.
Participants are expected to complete the preparatory reading, actively participate in discussions, and bring a teaching concept, course element, assessment format, or teaching material that they wish to develop or revise.
The course is evaluated on a pass/fail basis. To pass, participants have to attend all in person and online sessions and pass the following requirements:
Minimum and maximum attendance: between 1 and 10 students.
