2024 Carbon Footprint: UniDistance Suisse on Track for Sustainability

Total emissions in 2024 amounted to 135 tonnes of CO₂. Staff commuting accounts for a significant proportion of this (36%), followed by outsourced services (24%) and business travel (20%). Despite these main sources, per capita emissions remain comparatively low: 0.7 tonnes of CO₂ per full-time equivalent for staff and 0.1 tonnes per person for students.

Another positive aspect is that, according to current plans, less than half of the available CO₂ budget will be used by 2050. At the same time, it is clear that further efforts are needed to achieve the net-zero target by 2050.

Various measures have been defined to further reduce emissions. These include, amongst other things, promoting sustainable business travel, introducing vegetarian standard options at events, the gradual electrification of vehicles, and phasing out heating oil in all buildings.

In addition, awareness-raising measures are intended to support students and staff in making their own contribution to reducing emissions.

A large proportion of emissions stems from mobility – particularly from commuting. All members of UniDistance Suisse are invited to actively contribute to reducing emissions, for example by using public transport, carpooling or consciously reducing air travel.
