Thomas Reber a obtenu son doctorat en psychologie en 2012 à l'Université de Berne, en Suisse. En 2013, il a rejoint le département d'épileptologie de l'Université de Bonn, en Allemagne, en tant que chercheur financé par le Fonds national suisse. En 2018, il a rejoint UniDistance Suisse. Depuis 2022, il occupe le poste de professeur extraordinaire à UniDistance Suisse. Ses recherches portent sur les corrélats neuronaux et les mécanismes de la mémoire, de la perception et de la conscience, avec un accent particulier sur le lobe temporal médian humain. À cette fin, il utilise l'EEG intracrânien, l'activité cellulaire humaine, ainsi que l'EEG de surface et l'IRMf.

Axes de recherche

Les travaux de recherche de Thomas Reber portent sur les corrélats neuronaux de la perception, de la mémoire, de l'attention et de la conscience. Il développe des expériences cognitives destinées à des sujets sains, des amnésiques et des patients épileptiques. L'activité cérébrale est mesurée chez l'homme au moyen de l'imagerie par résonance magnétique fonctionnelle (IRMf), de l'électroencéphalographie intracrânienne (EEG) et des dérivations de cellules individuelles extracellulaires. À UniDistance Suisse, Thomas Reber intègre les résultats de la recherche fondamentale dans la recherche appliquée sur l'utilisation des technologies de l'information et de la communication pour soutenir les processus d'apprentissage.
