UniDistance Suisse offers fully online university degree programmes and is accredited under the Swiss Higher Education Act (HEdA). It combines flexible, location‑independent part‑time distance learning with an active, interdisciplinary research culture on its campus in Brig. Across five faculties – Law, Psychology, Economics, History, and Mathematics & Computer Science – we have been shaping modern teaching, learning and research for more than 30 years. Today, UniDistance Suisse counts over 2,700 students and around 550 staff members.

To strengthen the rectorate support office and as part of a succession plan due to an upcoming retirement, we are seeking a dynamic and committed individual for the position of: 

Expert in university teaching for the Rectorate Support Office (80-100%)

Place of work: Brig
Start date: 1st January 2027

In this position, you will be part of the rectorate support office at UniDistance Suisse, with a primary focus on teaching. You will provide support to the Teaching Vice-rectorate, particularly in the areas of quality assurance and the continuous development of teaching. You are interested in innovative and digital higher education and contribute actively to its development. As part of your responsibilities, you will serve as the point of contact for the faculties and internal services, thereby making an essential contribution to the visibility and development of teaching at UniDistance Suisse. In addition, you will participate in initiatives of the rectorate assigned to the rectorate support office.

Your responsibilities

  • Responsibly developing the planning and decision-making frameworks for matters under the purview of the Teaching Vice-Rectorate and the Rectorate

  • Supporting institutional changes as well as innovative teaching and learning formats in the field of education

  • Leading strategic projects for the Teaching Vice-Rectorate and participating in internal and external projects related to education

  • Participating in the development and updating of strategies, regulations, and processes focused on education

  • Advising faculties on the development of new degree programs and the enhancement of existing ones

  • Ensuring the internal and external visibility of teaching at UniDistance Suisse

  • Maintaining and developing a network with corresponding departments at other universities

Your profile

  • Advanced university degree (at least a master’s degree), ideally in one of UniDistance Suisse’s areas of specialization

  • Professional experience in an academic setting, preferably within an administrative department or in a similar liaison role, ideally in the field of teaching

  • Interest in innovative university teaching, distance learning, and digital teaching and learning formats

  • Experience in project management

  • Analytical, conceptual, and writing skills

  • Strong service orientation and excellent communication skills

  • Proactive, independent, and solution-oriented work style

  • Mother tongue German or French, with very good knowledge of the other language; very good command of spoken and written English.
